Reviews are the single highest-leverage trust signal in ecom. A product page with 30+ honest reviews converts 10–20% better than the same page with none.

Most stores under-collect reviews and display them poorly. Here's the system.

TL;DR

  • Use Loox (photo-heavy) or Judge.me (text-fast).
  • Auto-request reviews 3–7 days post-delivery.
  • Collect: rating, text, photo (optional), name.
  • Display: above the fold on PDP, in collection cards, in ads.
  • Don't fake reviews. Don't.
  • Pick a review platform

    Loox

Best for: visual products (fashion, beauty, home).

    Pros:

  • Photo and video reviews built-in.
  • Beautiful displays.
  • Works well with Klaviyo for sync.
  • Cons:

  • Slightly pricier (₱500–₱3,000/mo).
  • Judge.me

Best for: text-heavy reviews, lower-margin stores.

    Pros:

  • Cheap (₱0–₱700/mo).
  • Fast to set up.
  • Good Q&A feature.
  • Cons:

  • Less visual.
  • Photo display is okay, not great.
  • Stamped

Best for: mid-large stores wanting features (Q&A, UGC syndication).

    Pros:

  • Q&A.
  • Review syndication to Google Shopping.
  • Loyalty integration.
  • Cons:

  • Higher complexity.
  • Pricier.
  • For most PH stores starting: Judge.me. Once visual matters more: switch to Loox.

    Auto-request flow

    Set up:

    1. Customer order → delivered (Shopify auto-detects via fulfillment status).

    2. 3 days post-delivery: Email 1 review request.

    3. 7 days post-delivery: Email 2 reminder (only if no review yet).

    4. 14 days post-delivery: optional final reminder with small incentive.

Most platforms handle this automatically. Configure once.

    Email copy

Don't write generic "Please leave a review."

    Email 1 (3 days post)

    > Hi {{first_name}},

    >

    > How's your {{product_name}}? We'd love to hear your honest thoughts.

    >

    > [⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Leave a review]

    >

    > Takes 2 minutes. Other customers really appreciate it.

    >

    > Thanks,

    > [Brand]

    Email 2 (7 days post)

    > Hi {{first_name}},

    >

    > Quick follow-up — would love a review when you have 2 minutes.

    >

    > [⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review {{product_name}}]

    >

    > Bonus: include a photo and we'll feature you on Instagram.

Email 3 (14 days post, optional with incentive)

    > Hi {{first_name}},

    >

    > Last reminder — leave a review and we'll send you a 10% off code for your next order.

    >

    > [⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review and earn 10% off]

    Photo and video reviews

Photo reviews lift conversion the most. Encourage them:

  • Email mentions photo bonus.
  • Easy upload (no friction).
  • Optional: small incentive (₱100 store credit per photo).
  • Reviews with photos convert 2–3x better than text-only.

    Display

    Above the fold on PDP

Star rating + review count must be visible without scrolling.

    > ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.8 (234 reviews)

A 1–2 sentence quote next to the price builds trust at decision moment.

Below the product, before the description: photo grid of customer reviews.

    Inline review cards

Throughout the product description, intersperse review excerpts.

    Collection page

Show star rating on each product card.

    Homepage

Best 5–10 reviews on homepage as a social proof section.

    Ads

Pull review screenshots into ad creative. UGC-style reviews are top-converting.

    Schema markup

Add AggregateRating + Review schema. Reviews appear in Google search results as star ratings.

Loox/Judge.me handle this automatically. Verify with Google Rich Results Test.

    Handling negative reviews

    You'll get them. Strategy:

    Don't delete

Filtered-perfect reviews look fake. A 4.8 rating with one 2-star is more credible than 5.0 across the board.

    Respond publicly

    Reply on the review with:

  • Apology if warranted.
  • Solution offer.
  • Contact for resolution.
  • This shows future buyers you care.

    Convert to retention

Reach out privately. Offer replacement or partial refund. Many "negative" customers become loyal once you handle it well.

    Use feedback

If multiple reviews mention same issue (sizing, quality, fit), that's signal. Fix the root cause.

    What NOT to do

    Buy fake reviews

Easy to spot for buyers (similar wording, same dates). Loses you trust permanently.

    Filter to only 5-star

Buyers know real products have 4.5–4.8 averages. 5.0 averages look fake.

    Incentivize 5-star specifically

"Leave us a 5-star review for a discount" is against TOS for most platforms and unethical.

Incentivize HONEST reviews — 5 stars or otherwise.

    Ignore reviews

If you don't respond, customers feel ignored.

    Review velocity

    Aim for:

  • 5–10 reviews/week per top product (early days).
  • 20–50 reviews/week (mature store).
  • Track:

  • Reviews collected per 100 orders (conversion rate of review requests).
  • Healthy: 20–35%.
  • If your rate is below 15%: improve email copy or add incentive.

    Reviews + Q&A

Customers ask questions on PDPs. A Q&A feature lets:

  • Past customers answer.
  • You answer with brand voice.
  • Future customers see common questions resolved.
  • Reduces support tickets, lifts conversion.

Stamped has this built-in. Loox/Judge.me have basic versions.

    Reviews on Google Shopping

Connect your reviews to Google Shopping via Merchant Center → Reviews integration.

Review stars appear on Shopping listings. Lift CTR significantly.
