The product page is where conversion is made or lost. Here are 25 specific changes I make on every Shopify product page — ranked by impact, all measurable.

Most product pages I audit fail in the same ways. Big main image, paragraph of description, "Add to Cart" button. Done. No reviews above the fold, no FAQ, no value props, no urgency.

Then the founder wonders why ROAS is below 2.

The product page is your conversion engine. Here's the 25-point list I work through on every store.

TL;DR — top 5 fixes

1. Reviews/ratings above the fold.

2. Multiple high-quality product images (5+).

3. Clear value props in bullet points.

4. Sticky add-to-cart on mobile.

5. Trust signals at decision point.

If you only do five things, do these.

Layout fundamentals

On mobile, image gallery should appear before product description. Don't bury the visuals.

2. 5+ product images

Hero, 3/4 angle, top-down, detail, lifestyle. Minimum.

3. One product video

15–30 second video boosts conversion 1.5–2x in most categories. Worth the effort.

4. 360° view (optional but powerful)

For products with complex shapes (shoes, watches, electronics), a 360° spin lifts conversion noticeably.

Product info clarity

5. Headline = product name + key benefit

Bad: "Vanilla Hair Oil"

Good: "Vanilla Hair Oil — Daily Serum for Dry Ends"

6. Price + savings (if applicable)

If it's on sale: original price (struck through) + sale price + amount saved.

If it's not on sale: just the price. Don't fake "sale" prices.

7. Short description above the fold

3–5 lines that answer: what it is, who it's for, what makes it different.

8. Bullet points for key benefits

3–5 bullets, each starting with a benefit verb:

  • Hydrates dry strands without weighing them down.
  • Adds shine without greasiness.
  • Free of parabens, sulfates, and silicones.
  • 9. Variant selector with clear labels

    Color names: "Sand" not "C2."

Sizes: include actual measurements where possible.

    10. Stock indicator

    If low: "Only 3 left."

If many: don't fake low stock — kills trust.

    11. Free shipping bar

"Free shipping over ₱1,500" if you offer it.

    Trust and social proof

    12. Star rating + review count above the fold

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.8 (234 reviews)" right under the product name.

A 1–2 sentence customer quote next to the price builds trust at the decision moment.

    14. Photo reviews lower on page

5–10 customer photos. Loox or Stamped handle this.

    15. Trust badges near add-to-cart

  • Free shipping over ₱X
  • 7-day return policy
  • Secure checkout (icons)
  • 16. Press logos (if applicable)

"As seen in [Esquire, Mega, Preview]." Even one good logo lifts conversion.

    CTAs and friction

    17. Sticky add-to-cart on mobile

As the user scrolls, the add-to-cart button stays visible. Most modern themes support this; turn it on.

    18. One primary CTA, not three

"Add to Cart" should be the only big button. Don't have "Buy Now," "Add to Cart," AND "Save for Later" all competing.

    19. Express checkout below add-to-cart

Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay buttons.

    20. Quantity selector simple

    Plus/minus buttons, not a dropdown.

    Detail and specifics

    21. Full description below the fold

300–500 words. How to use, ingredients, materials, story.

    22. FAQ section

8–12 honest questions. Use FAQ schema markup. Builds trust + SEO win.

    23. Sizing chart (apparel/accessories)

In-page modal, not a separate page. Customers should never leave to find sizing.

    24. Shipping & returns expandable section

Concise: "Ships within 24 hours from Manila. Free shipping over ₱1,500. 7-day returns."

3–5 related products to keep them browsing if the current product isn't right.

    Mobile-specific must-dos

Most PH traffic is mobile. Optimize for it:

  • Image gallery: swipeable, full-width.
  • Buttons: minimum 44px tap height.
  • Text: minimum 16px font.
  • No horizontal scrolling.
  • Sticky add-to-cart visible always.
  • What NOT to put on product pages

  • Pop-ups asking for email (you have a popup elsewhere — don't double-up here).
  • Multiple competing CTAs (Newsletter signup, "Save," Wishlist, Share).
  • Long auto-playing videos with sound.
  • Heavy carousels with 10+ images that lazy-load slowly.
  • Live chat widgets that cover the add-to-cart on mobile.
  • Speed budget for product pages

    Target:

  • Mobile PageSpeed: 75+
  • LCP: under 2.5s
  • Total page weight: under 1.5MB
  • Each image: under 200KB. If your hero gallery has 8 images at 800KB each, you're carrying 6.4MB before any other content loads.

    Schema markup

    Add Product schema:

  • Name, image, description.
  • Price, currency, availability.
  • AggregateRating (your reviews).
  • Brand.
  • Most modern themes include this. Verify with Google's Rich Results Test.

    A/B testing framework

If you're on Shopify Plus, native A/B testing is available via the platform.

For non-Plus, use Convert.com or Google Optimize alternatives. Test ONE thing at a time:

  • Hero image variant
  • Headline
  • Bullet structure
  • Price formatting
  • Measure for 14+ days. Don't conclude on 2 days.

    Common product page mistakes

    1. Hero image too zoomed-in (no context).

    2. Description that doesn't answer "is this for me?"

    3. No reviews surfaced above the fold.

    4. Sizing/fit info hidden.

    5. Slow product page (over 4MB load).

    6. Auto-playing background video that drains battery.

    7. No FAQ — customers email instead, kills conversion.

    8. Hidden shipping cost (only shown at checkout).

    Quick-start: 1-week product page overhaul

If your top product page is underperforming:

  • Day 1: rewrite headline, add bullets, fix description.
  • Day 2: re-shoot or source 5 better images.
  • Day 3: install reviews app, surface ratings above fold.
  • Day 4: add FAQ section.
  • Day 5: enable sticky add-to-cart + express checkout buttons.
  • Day 6: speed audit (compress images, remove apps).
  • Day 7: launch and monitor.
  • Most stores see +15–35% conversion lift within 30 days.
